    "MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIANS AND THE LEGAL SYSTEM"

    Presenter: Elaine S. Brown, LPC

    Join us for a Law and Ethics CEUs Workshop for therapists regarding their role in the legal system.

    Location: Cover 3 2700 W. Anderson Ln.

    Attend the workshop to learn about:

    • Ethical considerations with regard to clients and counselor testimony in court.
    • Implications for therapeutic interventions when litigation is possible.
    • Overview of the court system and possible roles of therapists within the system
    • Protecting the client/therapist relationship in the context of the court system.
    • Parental alienation syndrome and how it is viewed by psychologists, therapists, and social workers in contrast to the view of lawyers and judges.

    Presenter:
    Elaine Brown is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and former attorney who practiced family law for over 20 years. Elaine transitioned to counseling in order to work with individuals and couples in a different manner and founded Live Oaks Counseling, a private practice in South Austin. She has a special interest in helping clients who are struggling with fertility issues and postpartum depression. Also, because of her background in family law, she is often called upon to help families with issues related to custody and co-parenting during and after divorce. Elaine is a certified mediator and trained parent facilitator/coordinator.
