    Introduction 
    to 
    Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy 

    Presenter:  Joe X. Cantu, MA, MFT

    Joe X. Cantu, MA MFT received his Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles and a BFA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Before moving to Austin, Joe lived in Los Angeles, California where he became a Certified EFT Couples Therapist and Certified EFT Supervisor. While in Los Angeles, Joe served on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles EFT Community.

    In Texas, Joe established the North Texas EFT Community and the Austin EFT Community (where he currently serves as Director). He is also in the process of establishing the San Antonio EFT Community.

    Joe received his clinical training at the Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills where he received intensive psychodynamic training and the Cedars-Sinai Psychological Trauma Center where he provided therapy to children who had experienced or been exposed to extreme trauma.

    Joe’s specialty is couples and he only sees couples in his practice. He is currently an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy Trainer-in-Training and is being mentored by Dr. Susan Johnson, the developer and founder of EFT.

    Joe supervises EFT therapists in Spain, Mexico, Central and South America and the United States and has been chosen to be part of a team of EFT therapists assigned to introduce, develop and support EFT in Spanish speaking countries all over the world.
