Right Use of Power (RUP) is a dynamic way to explore issues of ethics and power, both personal and professional. This approach brings heart and soul to ethics, and builds sensitivity and awareness to the use of power and influence.

Core concepts of the work are to:

    • Be informed and present
    • Be compassionate and aware
    • Be concerned and accountable
    • Be skillful and wise

    Learning Objectives:

    • To create a context where participants discover their own gifts and liabilities around ethical issues
    • Utilizing mindfulness when considering ethical issues
    • The history and genesis of RUP
    • A brief review of both developmental and traumatic transference and countertransference
    • Experiential/embodied learning about power differentials in the therapeutic relationship
    • Embodied learning about repairing relationships when a client feels injured
