    PRESENTATION SUMMARY

    Join us for our monthly luncheon where Dr. Vaughn Mankey will explain his holistic approach to psychiatry and answer your burning questions. 

    • Understand what distinguishes holistic psychiatry from traditional or medical model psychiatry.
    • How to support your clients while they are taking psych meds and the questions therapist might want to ask. 
    • Explore various techniques used in holistic psychiatry. 

    Bio

    Dr. Mankey is Certified in both Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He received his B.A. in Psychology with Honors at the University of Pennsylvania, from which he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He then attended Harvard Medical School where he was President of the student body and received a number of awards and honors. Dr. Mankey completed his residency in General (Adult) Psychiatry in the combined program of Massachusetts General and McLean Hospitals – both world-renowned for psychiatric care and training and both Harvard-affiliated hospitals.  He remained in these hospitals for their combined fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Upon completion of this formal training, Dr. Mankey joined the staff at Massachusetts General Hospital (consistently ranked the #1 Psychiatry Department by the U.S. News and World Report) and the faculty of Harvard Medical School. While at MGH, Dr. Mankey also participated in a Faculty Fellowship with the unique Parenting At a Challenging Time (PACT) Program, which provides parent guidance to families facing the challenges of a serious parental illness.  He has published works and presented at local and national conferences on the subject as well. Dr. Mankey was also actively involved in teaching students at Harvard Medical School where he was regularly nominated for teaching awards.  He had his own private practice for several years while in Boston as well.Having relocated to Austin, TX to be closer to family, Dr. Mankey is excited to provide outstanding and personalized psychiatric care to the people of Austin and surrounding communities.

    This presentation is designed to be useful for all levels of training and experience.
