    Pam Greenstone, MA, LPC

    PRESENTATION SUMMARY

Did you know 60% of people have had a personal experience with adoption? It’s not something that is discussed very often and when it is discussed it’s often in a way that is uncomfortable or unhelpful to those in the adoption constellation. Whether you're an adoptee, adoptive parent, birth parent, or have any of them in your practice or family, it’s a good idea to learn more about adoption. Not all adoptees are the same but there are things to keep in mind that will help you be feel more prepared to have good conversations.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES
    • Consider simple ways you can be more welcoming to adult adoptees in your practice

    • Evaluate individual beliefs about adoption
    • Define adoption stigma
    • Learn two facts about the history of adoption
