      Introduction to Ketamine-Assisted Therapy

      PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION

      Ketamine-assisted therapy is becoming increasingly popular, and it's important for all clinicians to have a basic overview of this treatment so that they can provide psychoeducation to clients who are interested in exploring this treatment, as well as have a general understanding of what this treatment looks like, which clients this may benefit, which clients this treatment is not suited for, and more.


      KEY LEARNING POINTS

      • Learn which populations and diagnoses ketamine therapy has an evidence base

      • Learn a typical protocol for initial treatment and what maintenance treatment might look like

      • Learn the pros and cons of different types of ketamine treatment (IV, IM, oral, etc.)

      • Learn why ketamine-assisted psychotherapy produces superior outcomes to standalone ketamine treatment 

      • Learn what KAP entails


      BIOGRAPHY

      Laura Evans is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Supervisor who specializes in ketamine-assisted therapy. She owns a small group practice, Laura Evans Counseling, where she supervises LMFT-As and graduate students interested in specializing in psychedelic-assisted therapies. She is also the Lead Therapist at Illumma, a premier ketamine infusion clinic, where she provides therapy, manages the therapy team, and develops projects and programs for the clinic. She is trained in psilocybin facilitation and has completed the MAPS MDMA-Assisted Therapy Education Program and looks forward to working with these medicines when they become available.
