Dr. Sofia Georgiadou

PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION

In this presentation, Dr. Georgiadou will walk participants through the latest developments in artificial intelligence and how they are currently shaping the future of the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) field.

KEY LEARNING POINTS

Understand how therabots may supplement and augment mental health care, including their current capabilities, limitations, and ethical implications for MFT practice.
Evaluate AI note-taking tools for HIPAA compliance and learn how to introduce them transparently to clients.
Explore AI-driven simulation training as a tool for practicing clinical skills in MFT supervision and education.
Identify ethical and relational challenges posed by integrating AI into therapy.
Develop at least 2 strategies MFTs can employ to advocate for human-centered policies and regulation on AI technology integration in the mental health space.

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Sofia Georgiadou is the President-elect of TAMFT and the owner of Dr. Sofia Consulting PLLC. She offers trauma-informed, systemic and culturally responsive supervision in Texas, continuing education courses for therapists and supervisors, as well as grant writing for non-profits and for-profit organizations serving vulnerable populations. She has previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (in-person), and an Affiliate Faculty for Northwestern University and Capella University's online MFT programs. She is currently an Associate Professor at UMass Global’s online MFT Program.

This presentation is designed to be useful for all levels of training and experience.
